Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson Divorce
Estranged Husband Speaks Out
Couple Married in Jail in 2022
Ryan Scott Anderson has opened up about his relationship with Gypsy Rose Blanchard, revealing that they are now getting a divorce. Anderson married Blanchard in a jailhouse ceremony in July 2022 while she was serving almost eight years for the second-degree murder of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard.
In an interview with People, Anderson said that he and Blanchard felt lost in their marriage. "We were both kind of struggling," he said. "I think we were just trying to figure out who we were and what we wanted." Anderson also said that he still loves Blanchard but believes that divorce is the best decision for both of them.
Blanchard and Anderson's marriage has been the subject of much media attention in recent years. Blanchard's case gained notoriety in 2015 when she and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, were arrested for the murder of Dee Dee. Blanchard has since said that she was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental disorder in which a caregiver exaggerates or induces illness in a person under their care.
Anderson has said that he believes Blanchard was manipulated by Godejohn into participating in the murder. He also said that he believes that Blanchard is a "good person" and that he hopes she can find happiness in the future.
