Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the 32-year-old Missouri woman who was convicted of second-degree murder in the 2015 stabbing death of her mother, announced on Tuesday that she is pregnant with her first child. The father of the child is her current fiancé, Ken Urker.
Blanchard made the announcement in a YouTube video titled "Surprise! We're Having a Baby!" In the video, Blanchard and Urker are seen smiling and holding a sonogram. Blanchard says that she is due in December and that she is "so excited" to be a mother.
Blanchard and Urker first met in 2019, while they were both serving time in prison. They began dating after Blanchard was released from prison in 2020. Urker was released from prison in 2021.
The couple's pregnancy announcement was met with mixed reactions. Some people expressed their support and congratulations, while others expressed concern about Blanchard's ability to care for a child given her past mental health issues.
